Crash 4/Spyro Remaster Devs Reassigned To Work Exclusively On Warzone… Wait What?

According to the official Toys for Bob Twitter account, Activision has reassigned the Crash Bandicoot 4 and Spyro Reignited devs to work exclusively on Call of Duty: Warzone.

It doesn’t look like the entire Toys For Bob studio is coming along for the ride though, as a member of the studio said on Twitter that “everyone I interfaced with and worked along was let go”.

Blake Maloof, another TFB developer, confirmed these layoffs and changes with another tweet.

At first glance, this move makes no sense. At second glance, it makes even less sense. The developer spearheading what many fans touted as the “platforming renaissance” being moved to working exclusively on Warzone is nothing short of a confusing move. Laying off everyone involved in both of their projects (both of which performed well), is even more baffling.

Some might say this is just business, and the nature of the beast – but there’s going to be lots of folks disappointed by this change on one side of the screen, and a significant number of people with their lives fundamentally changed by it on the other.

Here’s hoping all those affected by the Toys For Bob moves/layoffs land on their feet and are able to get back to doing what they do best real soon.
