Hideo Kojima’s first major release after leaving Konami, Death Stranding, releases November 8, 2019 on PlayStation 4 (with a PC release expected early summer 2020). Running on the Decima engine, the cinematics and gameplay in the trailer look incredible. Well done, Kojima Productions, well done.
People have created “Walls” and become accustomed to living in isolation. “Death Stranding” is a completely new type of action game, where the goal of the player is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society. It is created so that all elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the theme of the “Strand” or connection. As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to bridge the divides in society, and in doing create new bonds or “Strands” with other players around the globe. Through your experience playing the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.– Hideo Kojima, PlayStation Blog (5/29/19)
After a series of mysterious explosions erupt across the planet, spectral creatures plague the landscape in Death Stranding and threaten mass extinction. It is up to the player to save humanity from total annihilation. To flesh out the production value, Death Stranding stars Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Lindsay Wagner who provided motion capture for the various characters.
I cannot wait to get my hands on this game as soon as it drops.
