Mortal Kombat’s Film Reboot Finally Has A Trailer

After leaking online earlier this morning, Warner Bros has released the official Red Band trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat film reboot, in all its gory glory.

Not going to lie, this trailer got me good. It’s gory, over the top, ridiculous, and takes itself just seriously enough and plays it just straight enough that I absolutely cannot wait to hang on every story beat.

The film reboot revolves around a down-on-his-luck MMA fighter named Cole Young, who is a brand new character to the franchise. Cole finds out that he’s being hunted by Sub-Zero, and stumbles upon his ancient destiny to help other classic MK characters defend Earthrealm in the Mortal Kombat tournament.

Is the premise absurd? Yes. Will this be incredible? Also yes.

Mortal Kombat arrives in theaters and on HBO Max on April 16th.
