Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Announced, Arrives In 2022

I loved 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog movie. A whole lot. And today, Sega has finally confirmed that we are indeed getting a sequel, as Sonic the Hedgehog 2 speeds into theaters on April 8th of next year.

THAT GREEN HILL ZONE REMIX THOUGH!?!

Man I’m so excited, and we kinda already knew that Sega and Paramount were banking on a sequel to their speedy blue hedgehog picture. In the below post-credits scene from the first film – Tails (voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey, returning to voice Tails from the Sonic Boom cartoon) appears in Green Hills, Montana. He sets out to find Sonic (and seems like he’s in a hurry), but we aren’t sure why just yet.

Screenrant has even reported that Jason Momoa has been offered the role of Knuckles the Echidna, so perhaps he will play some role in coercing Sonic to return to his homeworld.

If I had to guess, I’d say Knuckles will end up being the bad guy (at first, like he typically is), and Sonic will team up with Tails to stop him from doing something unintentionally evil. Maybe there’s a plot with the Chaos Emeralds or Master Emerald that would smush together Sonic’s world and the human world… Or something.

One way or the other, I can’t wait wait to see Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz return, because they were both awesome as Robotnik and Sonic.

If you’ll now pardon me, I’m gonna go make some chili dogs for lunch.
