M80 Coach and Manager Crash Out On Opponents, Are Both Promptly Ejected From Rainbow Six Major
Whoopsie daisy!
A professional esports coach known as Budega and team manager Vivas were ejected from Rainbow Six’s final 2025 major in Boston for crashing out on their opponents. According to Liquidpedia, the Six Invitational is basically the “Olympics” of Rainbow Six esports, the biggest event in the game’s pro scene annually which signifies the end of the preceding season.
The tourney’s prize pool is roughly $3,000,000, and M80 dashed all their hopes of getting a piece of that after Budega and Vivas conducted themselves like this:
Not great!
You can’t hear what’s being said here, but apparently Budega and Vivas approached the other team (DarkZero) and exchanged words with them after losing 2-1. Earlier in the series, Ubisoft had awarded DarkZero a free round after it was alleged that M80 had broken some of the match’s rules even after a few warnings. I don’t know enough about Rainbow Six to comment on that further.
M80’s CEO has spoken up, and said he was disappointed and shocked by what transpired during and after the match and apologized to the fans and players for what took place. I’m all for some competitive energy onstage and trash talk, but getting in your opponents face like this has no place in esports.
Based on a social media post, Vivas intends to appeal his ejection and denies any attempt at “intimidating” the other team. It’s unclear as of yet if M80 will face any additional penalties from Ubisoft because of this, but embarrassing themselves on a stage like this is most likely enough.
