Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Is Coming Later This Year, Here’s Everything We Know So Far

I’m not afraid of any particular ghost, and unlike almost every other asymmetrical multiplayer title out there today – I definitely won’t be afraid to toss on a proton pack and dive into Illfonic’s latest offering, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, dropping later this year.

For those of you unfamiliar with the name, I can assure you that you’ll be familiar with their work. Illfonic is the studio behind some of the most notable asymmetrical multiplayer titles on the market – including Predator: Hunting Grounds and Evolve. In all of these games – as in Spirits Unleashed – four players will assume the coveralls of their very own custom Ghostbuster, and one player will be pit against them as a ghost.

The premise seems pretty straightforward. The ghost needs to terrorize the chosen public locale, and the Ghostbusters need to subdue and trap them before it’s too late. Players will be able to hang out with legendary Ghostbusters Winston Zeddemore and Ray Stantz in the game as well, both voiced by their original actors – Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd.

This game seems like a blast, and it’s awesome that players will have the ability to customize their Ghostbusters (and ghosts!) with new abilities, equipment, and skills in between matches. Illfonic has also confirmed that Spirits Unleashed will support cross-play at launch, which means you can ‘bust to your heart’s content with your friends no matter where they’re at. Go ahead and read that sentence again and have a good laugh at it, I know I did.

Start figuring our who ya gonna call when the game releases, because Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is coming in Q4 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
