Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Might Be My New Most-Anticipated 2020 Release
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a classic in every sense of the word. Let’s just get that right out of the way before we begin here.
When BOTW released, pretty much everybody I talked to about the game agreed on one ‘nice to have’ criticism – “Goddamn, the four champions were SO badass, I just wish we got to spend time with them or even play as them!” Well folks, today – Nintendo said “Hold my Joy-Con.”
If that trailer doesn’t get it moving for you, I don’t wanna know you. The “Warriors” series has never really been my thing, and I actually haven’t played the original Hyrule Warriors, but THIS is something I can get behind.
Link, Zelda, Mipha, Daruk, Urbosa, Revali, and the armies of Hyrule – set to clash with the endless, swarming hordes of Calamity Ganon. There’s no time for dungeon crawling and treasure hunting, this is an all-out war against the armies of evil, and this is a story that could only be told through the lens of the hack-and-slash experts at Koei Tecmo.
This trailer alone is more exciting than pretty much any other that I’ve seen this year, and a release like this alone is a rare move from Nintendo. My good friend Mocha Mike said it best:
Make no mistake, this move is nothing short of brilliant. Nintendo is giving us the chance to experience the all-out war during the Great Calamity, an event we spent 60-100~ hours playing through the aftermath/fallout of in Breath of the Wild. It’s gonna be emotional, epic in scale, and I absolutely cannot wait.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch on November 20th.
P.S. – Did I mention this shit is gonna be CO-OP?! Be right back, I gotta go scream until I pass out.
