Cue the Duckboats: Robert Kraft to Partner with Oxygen Esports, Bring Call of Duty League Team To Boston

According to a report by The Esports Observer, the most influential team owner in sports – Robert Kraft – is bringing a Call of Duty League team to Boston.

Patriots Owner Robert Kraft and his Kraft Sports Group are set to acquire a spot in the Call of Duty League and will partner with Oxygen Esports to operate the CDL team and Kraft Sports’ Overwatch League team, the Boston Uprising, sources tell SBJ. Financial details of the deal are still unknown at presstime. The CDL slot comes to the Kraft Group from Team Envy, which acquired the slot after its merger with OpTic Gaming.

Reports were circulating that the coveted twelfth CDL team spot, left behind after OpTic Gaming and Envy’s merger, would be scooped up by the owners of the Overwatch League’s Washington Justice. Those talks seem to have collapsed, as now Boston Uprising, New England Revolution, and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is reportedly now as good as guaranteed to be the CDL’s newest franchise owner. Kraft Sports Group is rumored to be partnering with Oxygen Esports – another New England based esports org who already calls Patriot Place home – to run the team.

The only question from here is… How soon can I buy a jersey, and what will the team be called? Kraft’s other teams, the Patriots, Revolution, and Uprising, all have names based off of synonyms for regime change and resisting the powers that be. Let’s consult the thesaurus, shall we?

New England Riot? New England Insurrection? Personally, I like “Boston Traffic”, but that’s just me.

We’ll report back as soon as we have more concrete info on this deal. But for now… CUE THE DUCKBOATS!
