Nintendo Switch Sets Sales Record By Occupying ENTIRE Weekly Top 30 List In Japan
According to Famitsu, Nintendo Switch titles make up the entirety of Japan’s top 30 best selling games list for the week of August 2-8.
Game Data Library on Twitter further elaborated on just how insane of a record this is, stating that its the first time since 1988(!) that a singular console made up the entire list, but that was only because the list exclusively used to list Famicom games. A single console has never claimed all 30 spots on this chart since it switched over to covering multiple platforms and formats.
This is WILD stuff. With so many options, platforms, and formats are out there… And the Nintendo Switch, a nearly five year old console that’s seen barely any technical improvements in the last half decade, sweeps the entire list. The Switch’s library is colossal, and has tons of ports and multi-platform titles, but still the Switch versions were the one to hit the charts. Not Xbox, not PlayStation, not PC, the good ol’ Nintendo Switch.
