Post Malone and Wizards of the Coast Are Teaming Up For Some Friday Night Magic

Wizards of the Coast has just announced via BusinessWire that they are partnering with Grammy-nominated artist Post Malone to help kick off the return of their Friday Night Magic (FNM) program, which is a global play program for Magic: The Gathering celebrated by thousands of game stores weekly.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, obviously your Friendly Local Game Stores might not have been running tournaments and in-person play events like they used to. Luckily, it seems like Wizards of the Coast has things figured out, as they’re partnering with one of the world’s most recognizable artists to celebrate the return of an iconic tabletop gaming tradition. WotC promises a 2022 filled with “new partnerships, bigger online experiences, and even more ways to celebrate the game [fans] love” as Magic: The Gathering’ approaches its 25th anniversary.

“You’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger fan of Magic: The Gathering than Post Malone,” said Nathan Stewart, Head of Franchise Marketing for Wizards of the Coast. “As a fan for years, he knows just how much Friday Night Magic means to players. There’s no detail just yet on what these partnerships are going to look like, but Post Malone already lent his talents to the world of Pokémon for their 25th anniversary earlier this year, and plenty of popular artists have lent their likenesses to in-game concerts and live events more and more frequently in games like Pokémon Go, Fortnite, and others.

Post Malone added to the announcement “I’m obsessed with Magic: The Gathering. This is really a dream come true, we’ll be doing some cool stuff so keep an eye out.”
