Ramen Noodle Food Challenge at Umakara Ramen Hyouri – Succeed and win $438
Tokyo ramen restaurant Umakara Ramen Hyouri has “mega serving” challenge: If you eat this whole bowl of ramen in under 20 minutes, they’ll pay you 50,000 yen (US$438). Do it in 30 minutes, and they’ll give you 30,000 yen ($263). -Kotaku
So how much food you ask? Good question.
- 4 Servings of Ramen Noodles
- 8.8 Pounds of Bean Sprouts*
- 24 Ounces of Broth
- A Non Disclosed Amount of Fried Chicken
- A Shit Ton of Chili Powder
How much does it cost to enter the challenge? Good question.
- $26
- No Self Respect
*You read 8.8 pounds of bean sprouts above, this sounds like a typo because 8.8 pounds of bean sprouts would fill a large walk in closet. But I am going to continue like it is actually 8.8 pounds like I read
Ok. So I want to start off by saying this is fucking impossible. (nine people have done it in 3 years, but I said its impossible, so it’s impossible) You want someone to eat about 10 pounds of food in 20-30 minutes? That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. I eat 2 McDoubles too quick and I can’t breathe or look at myself in the mirror for 2 days. And even if you are able to finish this bowl and win the $438, is that going to be enough for a new toilet?
This just in: If you throw up during or after eating the bowl in the restaurant, you have to pay $88 in fees. HAHAHAHA
With that being said, I wonder if they will give you a to-go bowl. Because I would totally go in, throw the challenge and take home 10 pounds of food for $26. I wouldn’t have to buy food for a week. Who’s really winning, Umakara Ramen Hyouri?
