Hallelujah Holla Back: Xbox Is Finally Getting A ‘Do Not Disturb’ Status
How many times have you been a few minutes into “Netflix & Chill” only to have your buddy B1GD0INKS420 come online and invite you to a CoD match? How many times have you been in the midst of a serious story moment with the sound cranked in your favorite games only to have the Xbox notification sound blare over an important line of dialogue? How many times have you wanted to hum your Xbox controller through your television when your friends begin spamming you for invites for a game you haven’t played in six months? Well, friends – starting yesterday for Alpha ring users and soon enough for everyone else – you won’t have to worry about moments like these any longer, because we’re finally getting a “do not disturb” status for Xbox One.
Microsoft knows that “Sometimes all you want to do is avoid all distractions and focus entirely on your game,” (see the rest of the post here) and to be honest for me it’s more like “all the time”. I’m kind of a pack rat when it comes to my friend list on Xbox, and to be honest I’m at the point where I have lost all semblance of understanding to how friends/followers even work on that platform, but for some reason whenever I think I’ve deleted someone, they never really stay gone.
As minor as some people may think this update may be, this is an extremely welcome change for people like me who maybe play one or two multiplayer games a year and spends the rest of their time streaming video content or playing single-player games. I’m wicked into this, and I’m looking forward to seeing what other quality of life changes this next update brings in the near future.
