Fortnite is Officially a High School and College Sport

Epic Games has partnered with PlayVS to bring Fortnite competitions to high school and college. Play VS has already partnered with Psyonix (Rocket League developer) but this will be their first time at the college level. High school registration will start on February 17, and the college league will start February 24.

PlayVS is a software company that sets up the infrastructure for high school esports in America – which includes providing leagues, and scheduling.

The set up for the high school level will be six conferences (one for each time zone in the US). And the college set up with be only one conference. Best team wins.

Fortnite, Fortnite, Fortnite.. It was only a matter of time. I’m actually surprised it took this long. Back in my day, you learned computer games in computer class when you were supposed to be playing Bailey’s Book House learning geometry. But instead, you’d rip some Runescape. But boy have times changed. I’m very curious as to how these new competitions will work out. If I had to guess, I’d say they’ll work extremely well. Once again giving the nonathletic folk, and opportunity to get competitive. I can’t wait for the cliche story line. The high school Quarterback, the heartthrob, Billy.. Quits the football team to play competitive Fortnite. His family is sick. The scouts are now non-existent. But then.. Then FaZe finds out about this beast, and signs him to their Org. Becoming a Cinderella story. I can see the movie coming out next spring right now.

“Oh my god. That’s Jeff. The captain of the Fortnite team.. I heard he dropped 15 kills last week.. Hiiiii Jeff ;)”
