Nintendo’s Next Console Could Release as Early As Mid-2024, Per Reports

According to a bombshell article from VideoGamesChronicle, the next Nintendo console could be arriving sooner than we could’ve imagined.

According to multiple people with knowledge of Nintendo’s next-gen console plans, the company is likely to release new hardware during the second half of 2024, to ensure that it has ample stock available on day one and to avoid the kind of shortages seen with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The article goes on to mention that “key partners” already have dev kits in hand for the successor to the Nintendo Switch, but it is worth noting that Nintendo typically keeps their secrets very close to the chest – so we may want to take reports like this with a grain of salt.

While they’ve had some slips in recent years, Nintendo is famously protective of their internal secrets. Having said that, the Switch just eclipsed it’s 6th anniversary – so it’s absolutely way past time for a refresh especially considering the system’s lack of horsepower when compared to every other console on the market. Not that that’s a huge surprise, cause, y’know, this is Nintendo we’re talking about… But it bears repeating.

What are you hoping for most from a new Nintendo console? What do they need to add, and what do they need to leave behind?
