Tiger Woods Named Executive Director and Cover Athlete for PGA Tour 2K23

For the first time in almost a decade, Tiger Woods is set to grace the cover of a golf video game once again. And this time, he’s more involved than ever.

Just last year, it was announced that 2K and Tiger had inked a “long term exclusive deal”, which brought on El Tigre as an executive director and consultant with PGA TOUR 2K. In return, 2K has contributed to Tiger’s TGR Foundation to provide underserved students with access to STEM curriculum and programs.

Tiger has previously been quoted as saying “I’m honored to take part in this opportunity and look forward to sharing my expertise and insights as we build the future of golf video games together.” when asked about the deal, and now he’s gracing the cover of the first new title since the ink has dried on their partnership deal.

PGA Tour 2K21 released in 2020 to rave reviews, and has returned golf gaming to its former glory from EA Sports’ Tiger Woods PGA Tour series. EA attempted to reboot the franchise after Tiger’s many public controversies with Rory McIlroy PGA Tour in 2015, but the game fell flat – and the franchise went the way of the dinosaurs.

All of this incredible news comes hot off the heels of a clandestine meeting with The Big Cat himself and the PGA’s top players earlier this week. They reportedly met up to discuss LIV Golf’s impact on the game and how the PGA and its commissioner have repeatedly mishandled the Tour’s relationship with the Saudi-backed competitor, and then Tiger comes back to reality just days later to be anointed the savior of golf video games once again. Just another day in the life for the GOAT.

More information on PGA 2K23 will be released on August 22nd, so stay tuned here for more.
