Why an N64 Classic Could be Impossible to Pull Off

Let me preface this with, it isn’t impossible for an N64 classic to see the light of day.  I mean, in light of the incredible success coming from the NES and SNES Classic, it seems inevitable an N64 Classic is on the horizon.  Being a child of the 90’s, I was barely a thought when the NES was released and caught the tail end of the SNES life time.  However, some of my first gaming memories all revolve around sitting in front of a giant boxed TV screen with both of my sisters playing, in my eyes some of the greatest classic videogames ever crafted.  With that being said, here is my only real argument I have.

With so many incredible games listed from the N64’s library, how could Nintendo possibly create a mini system with a collection of games that pleases all of the nostalgia driven millennials looking to relive a part of their childhood’s.  When you really take a look at all of the games released for the N64, you can find amazing titles in every genre imaginable.  It is understandable that the NES and SNES classic sold like hotcakes, due to pure nostalgia purposes, but the age group of people (my mid 20’s) thrives on it.  If Nintendo were smart…which they certainly are, they would release several iterations of the N64 with varying compilations of games.  Or even better, (put your tinfoil caps on for this one), what if Nintendo allowed you to pick and choose your own customized list of say 10-15 N64 games.

My list would most likely include:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Majora’s Mask

Super Mario 64

Mario Kart 64

Banjo Kazooie / Tooie

Conker’s Bad Fur Day

Donkey Kong 64

DIDDY KONG RACING THE BEST FUCKING RACING GAME TO EVER BE RELEASED

Jet Force Gemini

Any and All Turok games

Toss in Pokemon Stadium 2 for good measure

Goldeneye 007

Bomberman 64………there’s too many to choose from
