Bungie Unveils Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted

Moon’s haunted again.

After the phenomenally successful launch of Destiny 2’s most recent expansion, The Witch Queen, Bungie has been seemingly on an unstoppable roll of good will with their fans. Destiny’s 16th season, Season of the Risen, ends in just a few hours. What’re we getting next, you might ask? How about a freshly re-haunted moon awash in heavy metal imagery and themes.

Ghosts and Guardians, this is the Season of the Haunted.

Season of the Haunted already looks rad as fuck, but on top of the existing benefits of having fresh, new story content on a weekly basis – Bungie is also bringing back some souped-up versions of some classic weapons and settings from Destiny’s past – as well as some frightening new activities in Severs and Nightmare Containment to use them in.

Last but not least, Bungie is rolling out Solar 3.0 – the latest in their revamps for Destiny’s classes. No details are really available just yet, but I can’t wait to dig into the new system when it goes live in the next two hours.

As a reminder, you don’t actually need to buy the season pass (which I think is like $10) to get the full Season of the Haunted experience. Bungie’s done a great job in the past with making every Destiny player feel included, but obviously those who spring for the premium pass will get some exclusives.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen’s Season of the Haunted goes live at 1pm Eastern time, and Destiny 2’s base game is currently free for all players.
