Detroit Lions Use Animal Crossing: New Horizons to Reveal Their 2020 Schedule

It seems like in recent years, NFL teams have been going out of their way to one up each other with increasingly ridiculous schedule announcement videos. The Detroit Lions are using the most popular game of the year, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, to announce theirs.

I didn’t know what I was expecting for this, but the Lions absolutely went balls to the wall here. They buried the Bears, attacked a Packers fan with butterfly nets, and had plenty of other creative ways of throwing shade to their competitors with gags that pretty much anybody who’s played Animal Crossing can get a good laugh at.

My personal favorite was Blathers’ reaction to being handed the Redskins tickets, and the Thanksgiving table was a nice touch too. The Lions also made sure to gift their fans with some in-game codes for custom Lions merch to wear:

2020 has already been one of the weirdest years of my life, and it just keeps getting weirder. If you asked me “Will the Lions win more than 4 games this year?” yesterday, I’d have said “Probably not.”. But someone on their marketing team may have just given them a fighting chance.

P.S. – How many times do you think the intern that put this together reset his game to get an actual Lion villager before he gave up? Whatever they’re getting paid, quadruple it.
