Microsoft and Nintendo Just Created a Win For Gamers Everywhere

It’s been known for a while that Microsoft currently has a deal going through to acquire Activision. Call of Duty players have voiced concern recently that this investment may make their favorite shooter exclusive to Xbox systems. Now, Microsoft has taken a step to ensure that players can play Call of Duty games on any platform they choose. A major point of progress made today involves Nintendo. The president of Microsoft, Brad Smith announced on Twitter that they’ve reached an agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to their consoles for at least 10 years. The 10-year binding legal agreement shows how serious Microsoft is in making Call of Duty games accessible on multiple platforms. Easing the suspicion that the Microsoft/Activision deal may make Call of Duty locked to one platform.

Call of Duty Players No Longer Have to Worry About Microsoft Exclusivity to One Platform

Xbox and Nintendo have a history of pushing for cross-platform play between their consoles. Since 2018 with the “survive together” ad campaign, announcing Minecraft play between mobile, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Microsoft has made it clear of their initiative to make games more accessible for people on other platforms. Hopefully, this means that Call of Duty will also be cross-platform for Nintendo.

Now, players don’t have to worry about Call of Duty games being locked to Xbox as the deal goes through. Players can rest easy and play on the platform they choose going forward. Microsoft is now currently trying to convince the rest of the world for their acquisition to be completed. With this news, it certainly is a nice step that may assist the deal going forward. Do you think Microsoft will reach a similar deal with Sony going forward? It seems that the limitation of being locked to one platform for one game may be a thing of the past in the future.
