Rhonda Rousey Signs Exclusive Streaming Deal on Facebook
Rhonda Rousey has always expressed her love for video games over the years and has even said that it was a way for her to keep her mind active when he body was too sore. A known World of Warcraft fan, and even voicing Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat 11. But now Rhonda is hitting the streaming world, and is doing it exclusively on Facebook. Her first stream will be February 18th at 3pm PST, and all proceeds will be donated to Australian bushfire recovery efforts.
ONE OF US. Streaming and esports are changing man, and it’s happening right before our eyes. We have pro athletes choosing esports over traditional sports, we have countless traditional athletes already streaming, joining pro orgs, and being vocal about their love for video games. Fuck, we even have porn stars streaming in a completely different way now. And here we have Rhonda gearing up to stream on Facebook. If you already have a following, whether it be because of you previous career, or because you’re already a content creator, streaming is the best thing you could do to leverage yourself even more. It’s extremely difficult for any Joe Shmo to get on Twitch, Mixer, YouTube, Facebook or any other streaming service and make a name for themselves. Or to even just stand out a little bit. It’s so saturated. Might as leverage that existing fan base.
Will this be a tipping point to Facebook Gaming? Definitely not. But it’s still cool to see someone who was once known as the best female UFC fighter is trading in her gloves for a DXRacer. Preserve the body while making some coin.
