Twitter Suspended Our Account, So We’re Calling The Banners #FreeWGG

Just earlier this afternoon, Twitter indefinitely suspended the @WickedGoodGames account for the crime of DMCA.

As you might already know, DMCA bans have been a very hot button issue in the last few years, especially in 2020 and now in 2021. We’re no choir boys, and we’ve definitely broken the rules a few times – but it’s not like we’re posting full songs or albums to intentionally infringe on an artist’s copyright. This was a ban from a DMCA strike on a meme video that was posted by tens of thousands of other users.

The difference between us and everyone else who may have posted this, is that this is our brand. This could very well one day be our livelihood. And for Twitter to outright BAN US for trying to make a few people laugh… It’s just asinine.

Fear not, as #FreeWGG is on the cusp of trending right now, and we’re making due in other ways. I’ve called the banners on every platform I have, and we’ve had streamers, podcast hosts, fans, everybody and their mothers are answering the rallying cry.

In the meantime while we appeal and look into this further, I give you these beautiful pieces of WGG history. I take no great pleasure in profiting off of other peoples’ mistakes, but I will do what I must – if I must.

#FreeWGG ’til its backwards.
