Bruce Campbell Returns in Upcoming Evil Dead Game
Arguably the most iconic B Movie actor of all time, Bruce Campbell, has told sources that he will be reprising his role as Ash in an upcoming Evil Dead game. Together with prolific director, Sam Raimi, the two created a staple in the horror genre with the Evil Dead franchise spanning across several movies, an incredible comic series, a short lived but beloved TV series, and a handful of videogames. THQ helmed the original 3 games released back in the early 2000’s during the PS1/PS2 and Original Xbox generation. The first game Evil Dead: Hail to the King was more along the lines of survival horror akin to the booming Resident Evil franchise with the subsequent releases being more Hack and Slash / Action-Adventure titles filled with plenty of deadite gore and corny one liners.
It has been nearly 15 years since the last Evil Dead game, Regeneration came out and rumors have been circling that it was going to be some sort of VR experience with players taking a first person perspective through the eyes of Ash. I am relived to hear from the legend himself saying that it will in fact NOT be a VR game, and that he will be returning to voice Ash. Don’t get me wrong a VR experience in the world of the Evil Dead would be great, but with a decade and a half between this game and the last, I would love to see Evil Dead get back to the survival horror roots. With the incredible success of the Resident Evil 2 Remake, I can only imagine what a photo realistic Evil Dead game could be like in the RE Engine. Gaming has come a long way in these past 15 years and 3 console generations so I cannot wait to see what the newest Evil Dead game has in store, maybe I’ll even finish my old scrapped Ash Williams cosplay I started working on 6 years ago and never finished after the break up. Now I need to go drink, rewatch all of the movies and wish for the best. HAIL TO THE KING BABY!
