Dan “Ghosty” Rothe Gets Call-Up To The Main Stage, Signs With OpTic Texas

Following his dominant performance and presence at CDL Major II in Boston just last weekend, Dan “Ghosty” Rothe has finally received his call-up to the main CDL stage.

Just hours after the news broke that OpTic Texas had dropped Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal, and mere days after Ghosty and his team at Decimate took him the top prize at CDL Major II in Boston, the announcement went public. One of the most electric presences in esports will finally make his debut on the starting roster of a CDL squad, and now finds himself representing none other than OpTic Texas.

The former Boston Breach Academy standout has received an outpouring of support since the move was announced, and will be an exciting addition to OpTic’s roster. I’ve previously covered Dan’s penchant for trash talk here at WGG – but make no mistake about it, the kid can back up absolutely everything that comes out of his mouth. He’ll take up the flex and IGL role in the squad, and there’s no doubt in my mind that Dan’s abilities, presence, and leadership skills make him the perfect fit.

This is OpTic’s first signing (that I know of) in which they’ve promoted a player directly from the CDL’s Challengers division, which no doubt will put the spotlight on Ghosty as he works with the team through Major 3 qualifiers. Something tells me he’s built for (and loves) the bright lights though – and I can’t wait to see him truly get to work.

CDL’s Major 3 will, if you can believe it, be hosted by OpTic Texas – so I really can’t wait to see the home crowd’s ovation for Dan as he makes his debut. His team debut will most likely take place on Saturday, 2/18/23, as OpTic Texas faces off against Los Angeles Guerillas.

We here at WGG wish the Mouth of the South Dan “Ghosty” Rothe and his squad the best of luck.

P.S. – Do we like that nickname? It’s a Texas team technically so it works, right?
