Darksiders III Is Coming, So Why Haven’t You Played The First Two Yet?

In case you missed it last week, THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games FINALLY announced that Darksiders 3, the third installment in their post-apocalyptic action/adventure/puzzle series – is currently in development and is scheduled to release sometime in 2018 for all current-gen consoles.

Just like Darksiders 2, which if you haven’t played yet – you should – Darksiders 3 is an open-world action-adventure that focuses on the Rider of the Black Horse, Fury, as she tries to defeat the “seven deadly sins” through tons of hacking, slashing, exploration and environmental puzzles. If you haven’t played the Darksiders series before, it’s about fucking time that you do. And if you have no clue what the series is about – let me put you on.

Darksiders begins with the first installment, where you play as War – one of the horsemen of the apocalypse. The Council, a mysterious governing celestial body, informs War that six of the seven seals of the Apocalypse have been broken, meaning it’s time to do some apocalypse-ing. The world’s going to shit, as Armageddon turns earth into the battleground for a war between heaven and hell.

Then we’ve got Darksiders 2, which was released almost five years ago (please shoot me), where War’s brother – Death – has to help him out. I won’t spoil the entire game for you, but just know that it’s insanely worth playing. Darksiders 1 and 2 both have HD remasters on shelves right now, and they’re beyond awesome.

Then we’ve got Darksiders 3, which is set around the same time as the second. The third rider, Fury, is tasked with the destruction of unique physical versions of of the Seven Deadly Sins, and round and round we go.

I always felt like the Darksiders series got an unfair shake from reviewers, but those who’ve played the games have never given me an ounce of negative feedback. The games are gorgeous, and if you need a good action/hack and slash/puzzler in your life, this series is the way you want to go.
