Over 19 MILLION Players Grabbed Star Wars Battlefront II While It Was Free On The Epic Games Store
Star Wars Battlefront II had one of the most disastrous launches in video game history, there’s no forgetting that. It’s made up for a lot of things since then, and has quickly become one of my favorite shooters in the last few years.
Last week, it went up for FREE on the Epic Games Store, promptly CRASHING the entire service, and then eclipsing over 19 million players.
It’s no secret that I love Battlefront II. I’ve been covering it since it was announced here on WickedGoodGaming.com, and my blogs have ranged from the obvious (pretty angry at first), to the understanding (giving the game another chance after the huge swaths of changes that were made).
You can go back and read all my blogs from day one, and understand I’m man enough to admit when I was proven wrong. I love what EA and the EA Star Wars team has done with their license now, and I truly believe that the future is bright for them.
Even though Lucasfilm Games is branching out with other partnerships, EA maintains that more projects (including a Jedi Fallen Order sequel) are still in the works, and that makes me very, very happy.
19 million players is an insane milestone, and I’m only a little sad that this many people caught on so late, now that official support has ended for the title. Thanks for everything, EA Star Wars team – I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next.
