BREAKING: Vince Zampella Is Now In Charge of DICE LA, Planning Major Changes
Earlier in 2019 Zampella predicted that “Fallen Order,” under the direction of Stig Asmussen (“God of War III”), would begin to remold Respawn developers — long typecast as “multiplayer shooter guys” — into interactive storytellers. Now he’s ready to look beyond Respawn, the studio he founded in 2010 with Jason West — which was acquired in 2017 by Electronic Arts. In 2020 Zampella will also lead the L.A.-based offices of another Electronic Arts-owned studio, DICE.
Los Angeles Times – “From ‘Titanfall’ to ‘Star Wars,’ the evolution of game studio Respawn mirrors our search for story”
You absolutely love to see this. Vince Zampella has one of the strongest track records in the history of gaming, and will no doubt go down as one of the greatest minds in the history of the medium. The LA Times goes on to reveal that the Respawn boss and co-founder will also implement a name change for the studio, and has already begun plotting on an “original” yet-unannounced title.
Need a little brush-up on the legend of Vince Zampella? Let’s take a look back at the GOAT’s resume:
- Medal of Honor
- Call of Duty
- Call of Duty 2
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Titanfall
- Titanfall 2
- Apex Legends
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
…Just to name a few. Vince absolutely deserves to have more teams under his wing, and the gaming industry as a whole is lucky to have him. I absolutely cannot wait to see what Vince does with DICE L.A., and I hope that EA is smart enough to stay out of his way and let a genius work.
