Fans Shocked That ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’ Involves Actually Killing Members of the Justice League [SPOILERS]

Rocksteady Games hasn’t received a lot of positive press about their forthcoming Arkhamverse title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

From the game’s odd tonal shift from the Arkham games, to fans already worried about how they’d handle Kevin Conroy’s final performance as Batman and Bruce Wayne following his untimely death in 2021 following a battle with cancer, to the featured image above that makes my eyeballs want to vomit… It’s safe to say that many fans are curious as to who exactly this game is being marketed to.

Well, now that SSKTJJ’s closed alpha has concluded… Leaks are everywhere. And it seems like Rocksteady really wasn’t playing around with that title.

SPOILERS FOR SUICIDE SQUAD: KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE WILL FOLLOW THIS IMAGE OF AN ADORABLE KITTEN, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

SPOILERS RIGHT UNDERNEATH THIS, THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING

Alright, you’ve been warned, here you go. Listen at your own risk (audio spoilers from the campaign).

For the uninitiated, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League puts players in the shoes of Harley Quinn, Boomerang, King Shark, and Deadshot – as they are assigned a mission to “save Earth” by killing the Justice League, who are for some reason evil now. The game picks up five years after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, the end of which (I think) involved Batman and Alfred faking their deaths. Now, we see that apparently one of those deaths is finalized in the game.

We don’t necessarily know what comes before or after this, but you can infer from the game’s trailers that Braniac has somehow twisted the minds of the Justice League, and so the Suicide Squad are sent to chase after and kill them. Once again, most of this is made very clear by the game’s title… But it’s still pretty shocking to see it unfold the way that it does.

I don’t know what’s next for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but we’ll find out soon enough when it releases in February.
