BREAKING: Lamar Jackson To Be Featured As Madden 2021 Cover Athlete

Lamar Jackson went from being the 24th-best QB in Madden to MVP and cover athlete in just one season… At least, that’s what he might’ve just accidentally leaked via an interview on the official Baltimore Ravens Twitter account.

“It’s always been a dream of mine since I was a little kid, since I first started playing Madden,” Jackson said in a video conference call with Baltimore reporters. “It’s dope. I have every Madden. To me to be on the front of it, it’s a dream come true.”

Lamar also went on to say that if Patrick Mahomes had the so-called Madden Curse, then he wants it too – since the so-called cursed Mahomes went on to win a Super Bowl and MVP. EA Sports hasn’t said anything yet, but it looks like these worms aren’t exactly the kind you can put back in the can.

In Madden 2020, Lamar Jackson’s OVR rating was just a 76, but he ended up jumping up to an insane 92 overall by the end of season, buffed up considerably by his trademark speed – which ended up as a 96 in Madden 2020. This rating surpassed Michael Vick’s famously broken Madden 2004 build, where he possessed a 95 in speed, 97 in accuracy, 98 in throwing power and 92 in elusiveness. If this is the baseline we’re working with – Lamar Jackson is going to be an absolute MONSTER in Madden 2021.

I’ve written quite a few blogs about the Madden Curse, including a detailed history of the way its impacted players over the last 2+ decades. Here’s hoping Lamar Jackson has another unbelievable season once football returns, and can silence to all skepticism and superstition during his cover athlete season.
